"Anceztaz of the week" - St. Patrick
St. Patricks Day is a yearly holiday celebrated on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick (circa AD 387–493), the most commonly recognized of the patron saints of Ireland. It began as a purely Christian holiday and became an official feast day in the early 1600s. However, it has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Ireland's culture. Little is known of Patrick's early life, though we know he was born in Roman Britain in the fifth century, into a wealthy Romano-British family. His father was a deacon in the Church, like his father before him. At the age of sixteen he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave. It is believed he was held somewhere on the west coast of Ireland, possibly Mayo, but the exact location is unknown.Originally the color associated with Saint Patrick was blue, not green. However over the years the color green and its association with Saint Patrick's day grew. Green ribbons and shamrocks were worn in celebration of St Patrick's Day as early as the 17th century. (This article was written and taken from wikipedia). Anceztaz Clothing is honoring St. Patrick by creating an Anceztaz shirt for St. Patrick in celebration for the irish culture. The Anceztaz St. Patrick Day shirts are limited edition, please contact anceztaz@gmail.com for preorders. Pictures will be up later this week

"Anceztaz of the week"-Garrett Morgan
Garrett Augustus Morgan, Sr. (March 4, 1877 - August 27, 1963) was an African American inventor who originated a respiratory protective hood (similar to the modern gas masks), invented a hair-straightening preparation, and patented a type of traffic signal. He is renowned for a heroic rescue in which he used his hood to save workers trapped in a tunnel system filled with fumes. He is credited as the first African-American in Cleveland to own an automobile. Taken from Wikipedia.

"Anceztaz of the week"- Malcolm X
Malcolm Little; May 19, 1925 – February 21, 1965), also known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Arabic: الحاجّ مالك الشباز), was an African-American Muslim minister, public speaker, and human rights activist. To his admirers, he was a courageous advocate for the rights of African Americans, a man who indicted white America in the harshest terms for its crimes against black Americans. His detractors accused him of preaching racism, black supremacy, antisemitism, and violence. He has been described as one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history.
Malcolm X was born in Omaha, Nebraska. By the time he was thirteen, his father had died and his mother had been committed to a mental hospital. His childhood, including his father's lessons concerning black pride and self-reliance and his own experiences concerning race, played a significant role in Malcolm X's adult life. After living in a series of foster homes, Malcolm X became involved in hustling and other criminal activities in Boston and New York. In 1946, Malcolm X was sentenced to eight to ten years in prison.
While in prison, Malcolm X became a member of the Nation of Islam. After his parole in 1952, he became one of the Nation's leaders and chief spokesmen. For nearly a dozen years, he was the public face of the Nation of Islam. Tension between Malcolm X and Elijah Muhammad, head of the Nation of Islam, led to Malcolm X's departure from the organization in March 1964.
After leaving the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X became a Sunni Muslim and made a pilgrimage to Mecca, after which he disavowed racism. He traveled extensively throughout Africa and the Middle East. He founded Muslim Mosque, Inc., a religious organization, and the secular, black nationalist Organization of Afro-American Unity. Less than a year after he left the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X was assassinated while giving a speech in New York. (Taken from Wikipedia).

"Anceztaz of the week"- Bruce Lee
November 1940 – 20 July 1973) was a Chinese American and Hong Kong actor, martial artist, philosopher, film director, screenwriter, practitioner of Wing Chun and founder of the Jeet Kune Do concept. He is considered by many as the most influential martial artist of the 20th century, and a cultural icon.
Lee was born in San Francisco, California, and raised in Hong Kong until his late teens. His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and sparked the second major surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West. The direction and tone of his films changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in Hong Kong and the rest of the world as well. He is noted for his roles in five feature length films, Lo Wei's The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972); Way of the Dragon (1972), directed and written by Bruce Lee; Warner Brothers' Enter the Dragon (1973), directed by Robert Clouse, and The Game of Death (1978).
Lee became an iconic figure known throughout the world and remains very popular among Asian people and in particular among the Chinese, as he portrayed Chinese nationalism and upheld the Chinese national pride at a crucial time in history and also of Asians through his movies which reached every part of the known world. While Lee initially trained in Wing Chun, he later rejected well-defined martial art styles, favoring instead to utilize useful techniques from various sources in the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy he dubbed Jeet Kune Do (The Way of the Intercepting Fist). This is why Bruce deserves this weeks "Anceztaz of the week". Taken from WikiPedia

Synopsis: Corey has transferred to the University where his late Grandfather was once a proud and inspirational professor. Without, housing and barely enough financial assistance, Corey finds it hard to continue the legacy. Here are a few pics of actor Corey (Davani Durette) wearing Anceztaz Clothing during a few scenes in the movie. Interview with Matunes.net
Quin: Explain to me where the name ‘Anceztaz” came from
Tanze: The name Anceztaz came from the actual word Ancestors. It is spelled the way it is because i wanted it to contain the letters in my name. I also wanted it to begin with A and end with Z because they represent the beginning and the end. My clothing line represents our ancestry, which spans forever, or from beginning to end.
Quin: Is there a specific reason for the interlocked letters in the logo?
Tanze: The logo contains every letter in the word “anceztaz”. Therefore, in a sense, it represents our ancestors just as much as the word itself.
Quin: How long have you been into fashion and wanting your own line?
Tanze: Clothing and dressing have always been a passion of mine but It did not get serious until about 7th grade. This is when i started exploring the options of having my own clothing line.
Quin: I ask everybody this, wheres my free stuff?
Tanze: LOL. Well, as of right now, I am starting a business, so it’s a little costly and not very beneficial to me and my company if we give out free gear to everyone that asks. The only exception to this is promotional opportunities in certain cases.
Quin: You in school up at Howard right; hows the taste of style up there and what makes it different from the Virginia area?
Tanze: For the people that actually grew up in DC, I can say that their style is very loud and bright. Alot of people that come to Howard are from all over meaning they bring their own style, however I have never really seen a “virginia” style. The style at Howard is just unique altogether.
Quin: How far are you looking to take you ideas and your line?
Tanze: would like for my line to be successful and continue to prosper.
Quin: Do you see other independents as competition or as friends and potential partners?
Tanze: I actually have alot of friends that have clothing lines or are looking to make a clothing line. We all help each other out. No hard feelings involved
Quin: Whos the one person you want to see wearing one of your designs?
Tanze: Russell Simmons or Will Smith
Quin: In 5 yrs, where do you see yourself and why?
Tanze: In 5 years, I plan to have graduated from Howard and have launched my entertainment company. Hopefully, if I do not have one already, I will be in the process of securing my own talk show or radio show.
