"Anceztaz of the week"- Bruce Lee

bruce lee Pictures, Images and Photos
November 1940 – 20 July 1973) was a Chinese American and Hong Kong actor, martial artist, philosopher, film director, screenwriter, practitioner of Wing Chun and founder of the Jeet Kune Do concept. He is considered by many as the most influential martial artist of the 20th century, and a cultural icon.
Lee was born in San Francisco, California, and raised in Hong Kong until his late teens. His Hong Kong and Hollywood-produced films elevated the traditional Hong Kong martial arts film to a new level of popularity and acclaim, and sparked the second major surge of interest in Chinese martial arts in the West. The direction and tone of his films changed and influenced martial arts and martial arts films in Hong Kong and the rest of the world as well. He is noted for his roles in five feature length films, Lo Wei's The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972); Way of the Dragon (1972), directed and written by Bruce Lee; Warner Brothers' Enter the Dragon (1973), directed by Robert Clouse, and The Game of Death (1978).
Lee became an iconic figure known throughout the world and remains very popular among Asian people and in particular among the Chinese, as he portrayed Chinese nationalism and upheld the Chinese national pride at a crucial time in history and also of Asians through his movies which reached every part of the known world. While Lee initially trained in Wing Chun, he later rejected well-defined martial art styles, favoring instead to utilize useful techniques from various sources in the spirit of his personal martial arts philosophy he dubbed Jeet Kune Do (The Way of the Intercepting Fist). This is why Bruce deserves this weeks "Anceztaz of the week". Taken from WikiPedia

Interview with Matunes.net

Quin: Explain to me where the name ‘Anceztaz” came from

Tanze: The name Anceztaz came from the actual word Ancestors. It is spelled the way it is because i wanted it to contain the letters in my name. I also wanted it to begin with A and end with Z because they represent the beginning and the end. My clothing line represents our ancestry, which spans forever, or from beginning to end.

Quin: Is there a specific reason for the interlocked letters in the logo?

Tanze: The logo contains every letter in the word “anceztaz”. Therefore, in a sense, it represents our ancestors just as much as the word itself.

Quin: How long have you been into fashion and wanting your own line?

Tanze: Clothing and dressing have always been a passion of mine but It did not get serious until about 7th grade. This is when i started exploring the options of having my own clothing line.

Quin: I ask everybody this, wheres my free stuff?

Tanze: LOL. Well, as of right now, I am starting a business, so it’s a little costly and not very beneficial to me and my company if we give out free gear to everyone that asks. The only exception to this is promotional opportunities in certain cases.

Quin: You in school up at Howard right; hows the taste of style up there and what makes it different from the Virginia area?

Tanze: For the people that actually grew up in DC, I can say that their style is very loud and bright. Alot of people that come to Howard are from all over meaning they bring their own style, however I have never really seen a “virginia” style. The style at Howard is just unique altogether.

Quin: How far are you looking to take you ideas and your line?

Tanze: would like for my line to be successful and continue to prosper.

Quin: Do you see other independents as competition or as friends and potential partners?

Tanze: I actually have alot of friends that have clothing lines or are looking to make a clothing line. We all help each other out. No hard feelings involved

Quin: Whos the one person you want to see wearing one of your designs?

Tanze: Russell Simmons or Will Smith

Quin: In 5 yrs, where do you see yourself and why?

Tanze: In 5 years, I plan to have graduated from Howard and have launched my entertainment company. Hopefully, if I do not have one already, I will be in the process of securing my own talk show or radio show.

Martin Luther King Day

Photobucket
Happy Martin Luther King Day! Martin Luter King was a prominent leader in the Civil Rights movement. He was a man who fought for the equality of all people. He wanted to elminate the seperation of colored and whites and unite all people together. Martin Luter King Jr. was a hero and he spoke his mind despite the consequences that he would have suffered. King is one of the most well known "Anceztaz" in our history. Although he is no longer with us his story will continue on for generations to come. Its unfortunate that he did not get to see his dream come true, but he did change the lives and dreams of everyone today. Dr. King your legacy continues...

"Anceztaz of the week"- Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo Da Vinci Pictures, Images and Photos Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci ( pronunciation (help·info)), (April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519), was an Italian polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, botanist and writer. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the Renaissance man, a man whose unquenchable curiosity was equaled only by his powers of invention He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived. According to art historian Helen Gardner, the scope and depth of his interests were without precedent and "his mind and personality seem to us superhuman, the man himself mysterious and remote". Marco Rosci points out, however, that while there is much speculation about the man himself, Leonardo's vision of the world is essentially logical rather than mysterious, and that the empirical methods he employed were unusual for his time. Anceztaz Big logo shirt

Photobucket
As promised, we made a Anceztaz shirt to match the Retro 11 Space Jam Jordan's. These shirts sold a lot quicker than I expected. The shirts are limited edition and we only have six left. We will not be re making these shirts once they sell out. Anceztaz Clothing Co. wants to keep these shirts as exclusive as possible just as the space jam Jordan's. Trust if you have this shirt you are one of only 23 people who have purchased this shirt. However, we will be making shirts in the future with the big logo just in different color schemes. 2009 was all about branding the name and the logo. If you notice that any of the shirts just have the logo, know that the logo is a combination of the letters in the word "Anceztaz" (look closely and try to spell it out). Know that by wearing this symbol that you are still representing our ancestors.

"Anceztaz of the week"-The Wright Brothers

Photobucket
The Wright brothers, Orville (August 19, 1871 – January 30, 1948) and Wilbur (April 16, 1867 – May 30, 1912), were two Americans who are generally credited with inventing and building the world's first successful airplane and making the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight, on December 17, 1903. In the two years afterward, the brothers developed their flying machine into the first practical fixed-wing aircraft. Although not the first to build and fly experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible. Taken from wikipedia. Air planes are an essential part of traveling. Air planes are the only form of transportation that can take you the farthest distance in the shortest amount of time. The Wright Brothers changed history when they created the airplane and it is only right to pay homage to our ancestor of the week! You can expect to see an Anceztaz shirt in the near future dedicated to the Wright Brothers.
